Clients of prostitutes criminalized in France

Paying for sex in France is about to get a lot more expensive. France has joined a growing number of European countries that criminalize clients of prostitutes. The French National Assembly outlawed the hiring of prostitutes while eliminating penalties for sex workers. Paying for sex services now carries a fine of 1,500 euros ($1,700). Repeat offenders could be fined up to 3,750 euros ($4,260).

It's not only unfair on men, it's equally unfair on women who want to do it.

You're from France, aren't you? Is this why you're upset?

Yeah, that's right. Is that fallacious?

...yes; not only did he even say he was from france, but it's to suggest that all french people think a certain thing in this regard. it's not even like saying "you only vote labour because you get more benefits as a poor person" because french people inherently have nothing much to gain or lose on the issue of prostitution

There is logic in this since prostitution is associated with terrible exploitation of vulnerable young women.

Now who's committing fallacies. Saying someone thinks X because they're from Y does not mean everyone from Y thinks X. I might go to McDonald's and be very unhappy with the decor but it does not mean by virtue of their being there everyone else in the establishment shares this belief.

And he is French. Or at least spent time in France.

I wonder if they'll do it here.

The actual evidence (in terms of arrests, survey etc.) says that the vast, vast, vast majority of escorts in the UK are working of their own volition. Criminalising it would probably introduce a huge organised crime element to the trade here.

Legalise and regulate

Pushing it underground creates more problems

What century is this
This is a smart move, and it's more effective than banning prostitution, because the former is a choice, the latter is rarely so.

Prostitution is sexual degeneracy from both parties. It can go.

That undermines our entire legal system.

but you said "yes" when I asked you "you're saying he thinks x because of geography" - you set me up to think that because you failed to qualify that message. so that's not my fault at all

Do you dislike McDonald's decor because you're at McDonald's?

Yes.

Same thing. Don't fling around "fallacy" if you're not willing to follow the logic.

Most ironic username award goes to.

I had no idea reversing the criminality of something was against our legal system, perhaps we should reverse the legalisation of homosexuality.
