I have a few friends who graduated at 22. They were born in August and started at 18 and the course if you go straight though without doing any extra bits is five years. They weren't as young as she was when they started and all turned 23 within a month of starting work.

Interesting reading - a guy here from the Islamic golden age who started at 16 and more recently an American who got his medical degree at 17 having received one in maths at just 13

Not surprising.

I know someone who went to uni for a 3 year Mech Eng degree at 14, then went to do an MFin and is now heading to Goldman at the age of 18.

He did Maths and Further Maths when he was like 12

Yes they are doctors. It takes 8 years to go from a bachelors to a doctorate and original research with a 50, 000 word dissertation and assessment by a board of scientists and even then you could just leave with an MPhil if you don't get approved by the board. It is harder. And more competitive to even get a studentship at a university either way. One uni will only take 10 or 12 studentships applicants each year... medicine is harder... no. Medicine is more stressful but that's about it.
