Utility bill

Just looking for legal advice about a Utility bills situation.

I moved into a House with the Contract to run to Jan 21st 2016

I went abroad for 4 weeks on Nov 24th.

I left 3 days after I came back on Dec 27th

My ex-roommate had her name on the utilities. He says that I should pay half of the bill from Nov 27th to Jan 21st.

I am willing to pay for 3 days but I don't see why I should pay otherwise.

Could anyone tell me where I am legally?

I have paid off all the rent with my landlady and all my bills before that.

Legally you're off the hook then unless your ex-roommate chooses to sue you.

Can she sue me successfully for half?

Impossible to predict, you've no idea how a magistrate might decide.

I'm not a lawyer, but...

Did you agree when you moved in together that you would split bills equally in half, or by usage?

Well, we never specifically agreed to anything. It is bit hard to work out the exact usage for each of us so we just paid half each.
