Just a protest which turned a little violent, throwing fireworks that sort of thing.

Apparently it stems from them protesting government's decision to remove French citizenship of people convicted of terrorism, but that seems like something people would support so not sure what is the real issue here?

It was about new labor laws, such as more time actually working. Which the French don't like because they are lazy, try going to a 7-11 in France at lunchtime.
