MSc Financial Mathematics - Exeter

Evening/Morning,

Can someone tell me if the programme in (MSc) Financial Mathematics at Exeter is good? The emphasis on time series looks interesting and rather specialist. Is the admission there extremely competitive ?

Many thanks in advance !

Hi

I also have an offer for MSc Economics at Exeter for 2016 intake so we might be joining business school together. I think entry is not that competitive but you might still need at least an upper second class to be accepted.

Modern financial research is all about time series analysis, so a strong understanding of it is a very good basis for further study/work and not very specialist at all. In fact, time series issues affect all longitudinal data and so knowledge of time series analysis is useful in economics and other quantitative social research as well.

While actually conducting such analysis to scientific standards is probably less common in the world of work, quantitative skills tend to be a definite plus for all financial jobs. If you manage to complement your study with some work placement, you'll be a in a great place to nab the job you want.
