M2 collisions question

Edexcel January 2013, question 7. a)

Basically just a normal collision question, but in the mark scheme for part (a) it says "(1-3e) is A0", I don't get why. I checked Arsey's model answers and he wrote (1-3e) so are we both wrong or am I misinterpreting it?

It's given that the direction of A is reversed, so your velocity needs the correct sign. Since the question is asking for speed, it needs to be the magntiude. You'll need to put up your diagram and working so I can see if you've gotten the directions correct.
