Quadratic simultaneous equations

Hi there :smile:.

I have been learning how to solve quadratic simultaneous equations via the above method.

It looks similar to the substitution method when I have been doing simultaneous equations.

Is there another way to solve the above example? Like using the elimination method?

I tried using that here but it didn't look like it worked for something that has a quadratic in.

Thanks

Often elimination won't work for non-linear simulatenous equations like this but it will here.

If you subtract (1) from (2) you get:

x22x=63x^2 - 2x = 6 - 3

Then rearrange and solve the quadratic.

It's a good idea to assume substitution is the way to go for harder simultaneous equations like this.
