Im a girl and i can promise that if you tell a girl who actually looks good (or even bearable) she will be happy for the rest of the day. Another recommendation is to make her laugh but no period, sex or otherwise stupid jokes. Nobody likes them. If it's a boy you want relationship advise for i can't really help but i'm assuming similar rules apply.
