I know this is late, but at least you are getting considered for surgery. I have a jaw problem where my jaw has not only been pushed forward, but has also been tilted out of alignment, which causes stiffness in the neck, face, ear and head, headaches, my jawline to stick out abnormally on the right side, pain and discomfort on both sides of face, clicking sounds in the ear, abnormal opening and closing of the jaw (getting stuck, deviation to the left upon opening and closing), crooked chin, tilted bottom set of teeth, oh, and among other things, an open bite. Yet, despite my constant attempts to have anything done about it as I have been doing since October 2017, no one has been willing to do much other than give me an MRI of the jaw joint and surrounding soft tissues, and a mouthguard which I now have to wear or else I will wake up in much discomfort.
