Confused if I can get a bursary?

Hi, i'm currently doing my as-levels and planning to do medicine! And people mention about bursaries to me, and im very confused about it all!

Regarding my parents' income, they are just over the boundary for getting a bursary. However, i will be applying in 2017 and my dad will be retired after November 2016, so i tried to find out if i would be able to get a bursary as i would technically have only one household income?

I do live in Wales and have all my life. I am interested to go to Cardiff Uni, but im also interested in some univeristies in England, so would there be any differences or problems with this?

Also if I can get a bursary, how do i get one? I there any tests for it?

I am so confused about it all because i really want to do medicine but i know my patents will struggle with the fees!

Thank you for your help!

See http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/funding-and-fees/tuition-fees/i-live-in-wales for an introduction for funding for Welsh students studying in Wales and http://www.studentfinancewales.co.uk/media/195533/sfw_new_full_time_students_1617_en_d.pdf for more generic information.

NHS Bursaries are generally available for med students in their final years (if you take a standard 5 year med degree then it will usually be your final year only)
