Opinions about Communism?

If I was asked what my political ideology is, I would have to say that I'm a communist. Funnily enough, most people don't like that, and it often doesn't give me a great reception. But meh, life goes on.

Anyway, I'm really interested in politics, so I was just wondering, what are your personal opinions about it?

I think it's one of the worst things to take place on earth, killing over 100million people. Not to mention those that suffered as a result, and didn't die. I would happily end my life to kill a communist leader, and would happily fight against a communist government.

Communism is a fantastic system one where the is no rich people or poor people because all wealth is shared. Its a system with a generous welfare state without cuts or sanctions or bedroom taxes.

Many youths and students in Czech Republic are supportive of communism, many youths wear Che Guevara T shirts and Mao Zedong T shirts and also read Marx and Lenin. They are a generation that has suffered under capitalism and the Great Depression of 2008. Its no wonder they long for a system their grandparents enjoyed where university and health care was free and benefits were generous if you were jobless. Now all they see is cuts and charges for everything.

I'd say that Titoism is probably the best kind of communism, it worked well in Yugoslavia and wasn't as draconian as the Russian or Chinese model.
It's a good idea... until you realise we are human.
Any system that tries to force equality will result in suffering.
Only when we know true equality will we be free.

I am very pro Communism and believe that according to Marx's ideology that will be the end result of society: slavery->feudalism->Capitalism->Socialism->Communism.

Technically though there are many different strands of Communism. I would identify as a collectivist Communist meritocrat.
Communism among youths in Czech Republic has reduced the amount of Czechs resorting to radical Islam and becoming jihadists which has been a growing problem there along with gangsters, kidnapping, insurgency etc.
Communism, not even once.

So you're one of those left-wing "if we do it, it'll be better" types?

So are you one of those right-wing "sure 1% owns 99% of the wealth but let's not worry about it" types?
communism is pure evil
whether it's the hippie anarcho-communism or the marxist-leninist killing-fields communism - pure evil.
it believes that people shouldn't strive for themselves but should be servants to the group
what a miserable existence. what a *pointless* existence.

Why is that evil?

it discourages self-worth and personal ambition - it destroys the human spirit, does it not? how can a person feel like they matter if they are meant to be just like every other work-ant in their commune? also, communism makes people poorer, so making people poorer is *also* evil, surely?

I don't really care who owns what but who has the capacity to own what.

Why is Communism seen as more acceptable to support than, say, Nazism?

The Nazis lost the war and provide the necessary scapegoat for the failed projects of the left, Hitler was the left-wing's ideologue until the war started.

Communism can only work if it is all around the world, the whole humanity needs to be united in order to make it work, however if the whole humanity is united - anything would work.

It won't work on any scale, world communism is just an excuse for the left to avoid confronting the failure that is its own ideology and their own mistakes.

People can feel like they matter, even if they are working solely for the greater good.

the greater good =/= the individual's good. and if anything it can be assumed that the greater good is *against* the ambition of those that want to strive higher than those around them - why should they give into a fountain head like the greater good?

Yes, communism makes people poorer, materially, compared to free markets, at least in the medium term. But remember, consumerism is hardly a sustainable economic model, so communism might work in the long term.

how so? are you talking about the conflict between industrial development and environmental sustenance...?
I have read books about communism and I think that is a system based on revenge. It is the answer to capitalism which i find cruel. I support the idea of every one having what they need to live but closing borders, forcing the people not to leave the country, killing people because they have different opinions isnt a bit fascist?
This isnt what Marx was talking about. So I support communism in an utopic form. Not what communist leaders did in history©©√

Why is it unsustainable?

It only works when you don't factor in humans, good luck avoiding that in real life implementations.
