Stuck with translation (French GCSE)

Bonjour!
I've been attempting to translate the following phrase, but am afraid I've translated it too literally, hence making it incorrect:
"From time to time/Occasionally we go to McDonald's for breakfast beforehand, causing our total expenditure to rise from 50 pounds to almost 65 pounds"
Here's my attempt at translating it:
"De temps en temps, nous allons à McDonalds pour le petit dèjeuner à l'avance, causant notre dépensons totale en hausse de cinquante livres à presque soixante-cinq livres"
Could anybody help me get a correct translation of this?

De temps en temps, nous allons d'abord à McDonalds pour prendre le petit déjeuner. Cela a causé une hausse de nos dépenses, qui sont passées de cinquante à presque soixante-cinq livres
