Meeting someone from TSR...

So, we plan to meet tomorrow actually, and I am a bit nervous

Context: We get on really well online, despite a bit of an age gap. Also, he doesn't seem to want to speak on the phone when I suggested that we do, before meeting.

Is this a good idea? Can someone evaluate this situation for me.

I can predict the future:
Two days after the meet up you will post a thread on the Relationships forum that you have have had sex with a TSR member, and that they aren't responding to your messages or calls. You then bump that thread a few days later to tell us that you have found out that you're pregnant (don't act as if you ain't female).

That's if you don't get killed by the Mystery TSR bloke.

^I can't tell exactly which one of those two events will happen; my crystal ball is cloudy, you see.

Talk to them on the first. If they refuse to talk, DO NOT MEET UP WITH THEM.
Also, try and get them to send a photo.
Bring someone with you, at least initially.
Make sure people know where you are.
hmm.... how large is the age gap?

I think you should definitely meet in a public place if you go and perhaps take a friend with you. That said, I think it is a little strange that he doesn't want to speak on the phone. Has he offered any satisfactory explanation for this?

It's looking like you're probably better off keeping it online with this person.

The fact that he doesn't want to speak on the phone is really dodgy.

When I met a tsr user, we had spoken on the phone loads of times. Your guy sounds fishy asf.
Have you Skyped? Just do it once, so you know he's the guy in the pictures

Also don't meet him alone, take a friend and meet up in a public place

If you take him to your house, make sure your parents are there

Good luck and stay safe my dear!

Hi there,

I think it would be good to at least speak to this person via skype or something before going to meet them, particularly if there is an age gap. I would really advise you against going to meet them at the moment as you could be putting yourself at risk and there are other ways of chatting and getting to know each other without meeting up just yet.

Take care of yourself!

Third wheeling a first date

Sound advice if you're a girl tbh, as a guy I prefer to just punch the catfish.
how big is the age gap? why doesn't he wanna speak on the phone? video call at least
if he uses TSR and you're planning to meet tomorrow.....

....could pretty easily work out you've made a thread about him.

Imagine if he contributed towards this thread. "Don't meet him OP, he sounds like a creep!"

If he is not allowing you to speak on the phone then this sounds dodgy. Atleast speak to him first on the phone or Skype him before meeting up. And meet up in a public place, if possible bring a friend. How big is the age gap?
