Basically, as someone with an extremely powerful brain, I find it annoying.

And its invariably highly talkative short girls in their early twenties with MacBooks, holding a costa that come up to you and start nattering about "uni".

Its University, my friends.

Not "Cambridge Uni" SMH

Its cos we have class.

Original post by Mojo Banjo
No not really - "university" is good.

Its the short form of a word which should have a bit of class and the short form turns it into something annoying lol

I'm enjoying the multiple layers of irony here:

a) You can't use the correct form of its/it's despite supposedly having a powerful brain

b) You shorten it is to its (incorrectly), yet find shortening university to uni annoying

c) You shorten because to cos, but find shortening university to uni annoying
Just call it a 'loan owner' :colonhash:

Would you prefer it if we said "varsity"? :holmes:

Gasp. How exceedingly refined of you Puddles.

One of my powerful brain's important features is that it filters out unimaginative noise.

My problem with people the word 'uni' isn't some petty grammatical point.

Its about the way it sounds. Its about not shortening a word that deserves respect when placed next to 'Cambridge' or 'Oxford' etc. Its about the kind of people that shorten the word like that.

I never said you did, it was your arrogance I found nauseating. I've highlighted these for reference:

Basically, as someone with an extremely powerful brain, I find it annoying.

And its invariably highly talkative short girls in their early twenties with MacBooks, holding a costa that come up to you and start nattering about "uni".
