Degree: Mechanical Engineering Jobs/Careers of Interest: Overseas at risk infrastructure engineering or oil & gas technician Graduate Salary Expected: ~£30k out of uni & quickly rises after a few years experience.
Degree: BA Mathematics Jobs/Careers of Interest: Best case: IB M&A or PE (unlikely as undergraduate) Other options if finance doesn't work out: Blue chip tech firm, management consulting Less preferable choice: army 3 years then MBA to one of the above If everything goes tits up: Sales Wild card: Tech startup. Depends on what happens the time I'm at uni. Who I meet, etc. Graduate Salary Expected: Ranges from around £40k base at the top to £25k base at the bottom.
We sound like very similar people.. Except I would hate to be in the army!
What persuaded me to study engineering? I ask myself the same question. Well the fact that 1. I come from an easter european country and it's hard af to get a job there. 2. engineers always get jobs. 3. engineers always get good money
What persuaded me to want marketing? I've always been a creative person and I love creating stuff, crafting, anything that involves nice visual/audio things. I still don't know what job i want, but it looks like marketing fits what i'd like..
Mathematics at ICL Career: Hedge fund Quant Analyst for Man group or similar, hopefully,
Salary: 40k-50k starting
Big aim.. I think BlueCrest and Brevan Howard also hire from undergrad, might want to check them out too. Of course also check out other quant-y places like Jane Street, SIG, DRW, DE Shaw, Citadel etc. Putting your eggs in one firm is never a good idea.
Hi, I am going to study Maths at Uni & wanted to ask can you please tell me what a quant analyst?
They use mathematical and quantatative methods to help find profitable investments for places like a hedge fund. Well that's what I think they do anyways 😁
Sheeeeet, just read that head of human resources at Man group said that they tend to hire 4-6 graduates every year out of 1000 applicants, damn that's reallyyyyyy competitive
