But they do. Take it from a muslim woman that lives in London. Do you live in the suburbs or somewhere? It is either the headpiece or this:

No. Some do, most don't. Btw, even typing Muslim Men into Google shows most of them don't, not that Google images is necessarily an accurate representation of reality.

An accurate representation of reality is a mosque. Have you been to a mosque, may I ask? But I do understand that you didn't want to drag on as you messaged me last time. By the way, I just searched Muslim Men on Google Images and they wear wearing the classic "muslim clothing" like how I have attached:

Not like Google Images is an accurate representation of reality though.

You posted a rag thing on a guy's head and implied all Muslim men wear that. Google images does not show all Muslim wear that and those of us in real life who know Muslims know that most Muslim men don't wear that.

Are you for real?!?!?

'sure am, partner.
in the middle east, the culture that muslims come from, they are FORCED to wear these things. that doesn't sound particularly feministic.

They're not and funny how you're not providing these explanations.

They are and it's even funnier how I've said multiple times this is derailing the thread. Just don't reply mate.

For every 5 women that join Islam one man joins, why would someone join a religion that oppresses them. By the way, you stopped replying to my previous messages. Please don't make yourself seem more educated in a subject that I am part of.

They are and I can. It's funny how you say I'm derailing the thread but kep replying but the purpose of why im replying is to tell you its derailing the thread.
why can't you just give me a *reason* for your point of view? -_- do I even need to let you know how hopelessly undeveloped telling me "uhh you're dumb" is without substantiating it? am I the only person who actually feels it necessary to let the other person know what it is that I'm referring to? for instance, in the arab world, of course it's the culture that women have to wear the hijab/niqab, just like it's our culture that women can't go around naked. I don't see how you could possibly dispute these facts. legal systems do reinforce cultures as well. if somebody's family came from a nation where it was illegal to not wear the hijab, they will probably get their daughter to wear it too because they've essentially been indoctrinated, culturally, to see it as legitimate.

^at least I ****ing explained myself - if you don't explain your point of iew in a comprehensive fashion then you yourself are going to come off as extremely unintelligent. it's easy to say "you're wrong" but it's another thing to say why it is that another person is (allegedly) wrong. jesus christ. it's like talking to a baby.

They aren't and you can't. You keep saying it's derailing but carry on replying. Instead of writing over half a dozen replies to this you could have already given this explanation that we're all dying to hear.

Also, why are you lying? I haven't said you're derailing the thread. You're the one that keeps saying the thread is getting derailed, not me.

In how many countries in the Middle East is it illegal not to wear a hijab?
Take it off and bin it and just Christianity, Allah is Satan.

There is no 72 virgins waiting for Muslims, what a materialistic pile of crap.

Christianitys reward is to live forever.

The real god would not be a insecure nutter freak control job would he?

Hello!

First of all, I'd like to say this thread is very hard to make for me since I've always portrayed myself as a 'proud' Muslim. I have been feeling depressed for the past, say, 4 years of my life. I'm turning 18 in the summer, and I have never felt so ugly, so depressed, so not my self. Imagine realising that you're not going to be able to do what you want in life... that you're living just to wait for death. That is how I feel. I feel completely trapped.

My parents are conservative, very strict, very scary. My father moreso than my mother. My extended family are like that as well, you do one thing that they don't like and you're put under fire by the whole ****ing country. I have aunts and uncles here as well, and if I were to take it off all Hell would break loose.

I just can't try and find justifications for some of the things in Islam. Like this verse in the Quran:
"Men are (meant to be righteous and kind) guardians of women because God has favored some more than others and because they (i.e. men) spend out of their wealth. (In their turn) righteous women are (meant to be) devoted and to guard what God has (willed to be) guarded even though out of sight (of the husband). As for those (women) on whose part you fear ill-will and nasty conduct, admonish them (first), (next) separate them in beds (and last) beat them. But if they obey you, then seek nothing against them. Behold, God is most high and great." (4:34)
This verse is in the Quran, it is not a hadith so you can say "oh that's just someone talking ****", it is the unadulterated word of God Himself.

I just don't see a reason for covering my hair, I can be modest in my thoughts, I can be modest without a hijab. I love God and I hope he forgives me but I just don't understand why? If He made me the way I am and He loves me, why does He order men to rinse their hands from my touch?
"And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it" (5:6) Am I created dirty?

I just don't see how this could be 'misinterpreted'. And it's not even just Islam itself, it is the Muslim community. The backwards thinking, the hypocrisy, the oppression hidden behind smiles and empty arguments to trick yourself into believing it's the right thing to do. I don't want to lie to myself, and to God and to my family and say I want to represent this and I believe in this and it makes me happy. It doesn't. I am depressed. I feel like ****. I feel like I am losing purpose. I feel like my dreams are too far to reach.

And I can't ignore it any more. It's been 4 years of constant **** and right now I am itching in my own skin. I am suffering so much and I know it might never end. Because I would be ridiculed and looked down upon and disowned by my own community/ family, nobody would want to marry me, I'm going to be pointed at my mothers who tell their children not to be like me. People are going to scowl in disgust when they hear my name. And I am a person who craves validation. If someone doesn't like me, I go out of my way to make them like me, so that would absolutely destroy me.

Funny how a cloth on your head can do that to ya huh? But I don't know how to live my life the way I want and not to hurt or be hurt by those I love and those I call "family". I just need help. I don't need someone telling me I will go to Hell. God is merciful and will forgive my sins. You are not God.

Any words of reassurance? Advice? Anything?

Are you going to university soon? If so that will be a good time to find yourself and find out what you do/don't believe in. Also the distance will be a good start if you are worried about the opinions of your family and extended family. Also, at some point in all our lives we have to stop thinking about how others percieve us, I know its your family so it's hard but you shouldn't feel this way for so long. Besides, they are your family, they may be angry for a bit but they should come around.
