Flatmate groups

I've just started to apply for accomodation at Brookes and was wondering, for the questionare, if I put down agree/strongly agree for being clean, would I be grouped with people who are also clean or people who are messy? And similarly, if I said I disagree/strongly disagree about finding it hard to introduce myself, would I get grouped with quiet people (in the sense that they find it harder to socialise) or will I get more open people?
I think it's all computer generated so im not sure about the algorithm behind it.
What course are you doing? What are you predictedi applied there for accounting and finance. Im not quite sure about the accomodation- which one you staying at?!

These questionnaires are there so they can match you to the most suited people just like yourself really.

If you like to be around your own mess (not a euphemism for rubbish), and find it hard to introduce yourself you can just mix and match.

For example, you can pick you want a really clean place but just say you find it easy to introduce yourself. That way you'll be most likely placed with outgoing people and that will probs make you come out your shell. That's what uni is for - is to have fun and find yourself.

Then again, I applied for mixed gender and they placed me in (dunno if it was intentional or not) an all guys flat!

Do you go to Brookes? If so, what accomodation are you at? Whats your opinion on the uni? And is there a way I could get in contact with the uni and try to get me and one of my mates in the same block so we could have a bigger social group and still be close?

Yes I do.

I'm in Clive Booth non-ensuite

The uni is great. My department are very dedicated to their teaching and making sure students are constistently happy. They have many activities going on outside of uni such as free talks, or drama productions and literary discussions in coffee shops (so Oxford). It's a great community (Im also a student rep). The Union is absolutely crap. They had to cancel this year's summer ball because not enough tickets were sold... I already knew how crap the union was before coming here because it is well known. But you can defo have fun outside the union. When I went to Swansea Uni; they basically shut down the whole uni campus for Halloween and made into into an apocalyptic theme and it was just amazing. Don't expect anything like that here.

However, Oxford is known for having some world-class event organisers which makes up for the union's crappy job. For example, we had Clean Bandit in one of the clubs and S-Club 7 too (lol).

Well your request is not surprisingly uncommon. My sister at a different uni did this and I know a few other stories where this request does not go unnoticed. But you can request it by all means, but I doubt you will get an immediate answer unless both have unconditional offers if you're a gap-year student or a deferred student.
But, remember - uni is all about meeting new people and experiencing new things that you are not used to. And this includes meeting and making new friends. I personally would hope you go to uni with this in mind; if you both have separate lives at uni and make different friends; all those friends could come together anyway. This is the best part of uni and socialising; meeting so many different people.
At my previous uni, I made so much great friends cause I didn't know anybody. I think if you were to hang out with your home friend at uni it would seem to many others a bit cliquey and I think you both would be reluctant to make new friends if you're always hanging out.
One of my best friends who I met at my previous uni is in his 2nd year and now all of his home friends applied to the same uni a year later. He hs 6-7 friends there and he says he doesn't socialise with them at uni because when they go home, they'd have nothing to catch up on.

Uni and home life are two different worlds and I like having them separate cause you have different responsibilities.

Sorry if this was way too long and I rambled!
Ohhh I still need to do my accommodation.. I think I'll probably decide after my exams- I don't have time to worry about this on top of exam stress! >.< I liked the look of Westminster but I need more advice on the places and money is also another thing that needs to be considered! The applications are processed all together at the end of June I think..! Hope we get me meet at the uni! Can't wait for Freshers week! ^.^

Hope

Thanks for all the detail, and the reason I want to be with my mate is because we've known eachother so long, he is like a brother to me (even has a key to my house and will chill with my family when im not there) so itd be nice to have him around, but neither of us will have trouble socialising and its not like the end of the world if we didnt end up in the same area, but hes like my partner in crime as such 😂
