Fair point. Aren't there any more humane methods though to extract info?

I realised you can't watch the video on TSR. So just right click and open it in a new tab.
No. The American government, after practicing it for years, concluded it was ineffective and didn't save lives.
Water boarding is simply state-sponsored terrorism, the only difference being that victims are minorities, and it is done repeatedly

Ask them kindly whether they'd like to exchange their life or some information and tell them they have 1 chance to tell them either.

Don't forget to keep a nice big meaty smile on your face while carrying all this out.

You really shouldn't use words if you don't know what they mean.

Everyone knows what terrorism is

The government uses water boarding to instill terror in minorities, so that they know that if they make too much of a fuss, they're going to Guantanamo and spending years being tortured. Thus minorities are silenced.
No, torture doesn't work. You get the information the individual thinks you want to hear, not the truth.
Torture on these types of people doesn't work. They're too tough and loyal. It'll only work on the cowards.
Seems rather hypocritical to persecute people for barbarism... using barbarism. And as others have said, it's not particularly effective.

CIA Director John Brennan told NBC News in an exclusive interview that his agency will not engage in harsh "enhanced interrogation" practices, including waterboarding, which critics call torture even if ordered to by a future president.

"I will not agree to carry out some of these tactics and techniques I've heard bandied about because this institution needs to endure," Brennan said.

Officially they don't use it and they do not want to use it. Although I recognise what the CIA claims to do and does do may not necessarily be the same thing.
The problem with waterboarding, the death penalty or extreme penal measures is that there's always the risk of having the wrong guy - case in point at Guantanamo Bay, where more than a few were wrongly tortured

Was really surprised to find out Hitchens did this:

According to the guy in the video, the overwhelming stress forces you to tell them anything they want.

For a normal, non brain washed human maybe.

Fixed that.

Yes, it's stressful, but you do anything to stop them, so you tell them anything that you think will make them stop.

That's why it's not used anymore - it's unreliable*.

*in addition to being illegal...

You'd probably change your tune if you were the one person having a "bad time".
