Multiply both sides by 6:

7x + 1 = \frac{5}{6} \times 6 = 5

.

Subtract 1:

7x-1 =5 \iff 7x = 5-1 = 4

.

Divide by 7:

7x = 4 \iff x = \frac{4}{7}
