In our school, this is how teachers instruct us for 4/5 markers.

4 markers: We use the structure DEEC.
D- Describe
E- Explain
E- Example
C- Compare or Criticise.

5 markers: DE.
D- Describe (2)
E- Explain 3 individual points or 2 points with an explanation.(3)

My teacher taught my class that if it is something like a describe question, you would :

Describe and talk about it a little (2 mark)
Explain more in depth (3)

If you have a scenario above it, then you link back for that last mark.

Also, you can just link to a keyword or a concept for a mark during the explaining bit and explain that (E.g. Talk about labelling and the halo effect and self-fulfilling prophecy)

By the way, any tips on 12 markers on Unit 2?
