Proof of parents living separately

Everything is sorted apart from my student finance.

My parents are living separately but are still technically together but I need proof of this. I rang up student finance and they said a signed letter from the solicitors would be fine but after ringing around its costs around £150!

Any other documents I could use to prove that they are living separately?

A council tax letter with only the parent you live with name on is the only other thing i think they will accept.

The parent you are living with should have a letter from the council stating single person's discount at 25%, you can send this as proof. I'm in the same situation.

Only thing is, I am on a gap year and she doesnt get the 25% single person discount. My dad rang up student finance and they said a rent book/rent agreement and some utility bills would be fine
