Have a thick fur and fat under skin to keep warm, have small surface area to volume ratio to conserve energy. Have small Ears to reduce heat loss.

Q. What does FSH do and where is it produced?

Posted from TSR Mobile

FSH stimulates the maturation of eggs and also stimulates the production oestrogen, it is produced in the pituitary gland.

A clone is an identical copy of another organism it is produced by asexual reproduction as it contains the genetics of one parent.
Individual that is genetically identical to the parent.

Preserving endangered species would allow the ecosystem to work efficiently and therefore provide humans with resources nature has to offer.

Explain how lichens can be used to detect environmental changes.

Lichens are used to detect air pollution. The higher the number of lichens in an area, the less air pollution there is. In contrast to that, the lower the level of lichens in an area, the more polluted the area is. An example of an area with high numbers of lichens is a countryside (far away from a city). An example of an area with low numbers of lichens is a city.

Darwin's theories weren't accepted as he lacked evidence to back up his proof & also because science hadn't developed to the point where genetics and DNA were discovered.

There was a lack of evidence
People believed in God at the same time so there were conflicting ideas
Darwin couldn't explain why there was variety in organisms

Polar bears have a thick layer of blubber which act as an insulator
The have a large surface are to volume ratio which helps them store heat
They have small ears which prevent heat loss
They are white which helps them camouflage into the snow to hide them from predators
They have a thick coat which acts as an insulator

Question, What are the different hormones in the menstrual cycle and what do they do?

FSH - Matures an egg in the ovary, inhibits (Progesterone)
Oestrogen - Thickens the uterus lining, inhibits FSH, stimulates LH
LH - Releases a matured egg from the ovary, inhibits Oestrogen, stimulates (Progesterone)

(Optional) Progesterone - Maintains uterus lining, inhibits LH

what did ignas semmelweis do?

Ignaz semelwies introduced the concept of antiseptics. He first implemented his theory in the hospital he worked at in 1840s that helped to cut the deaths of women after pregnancy as it killed bacteria and diseases.

Q: How does genetic modification work (4 marks)

Genetic modification invloves using enzymes to splice desired genes, they are then transferred into another organism/plant where they are inserted to give the organism/plant the desired characteristics.
