I didn't study in the UK and wouldn't have studied RS anyway.

why are you on the student room then? i thought this website was for British students

Also regardless if you want to, in most British schools it is compulsory to take a subject such as RS/Global Studies/Citizenship so you can learn more about society and other faiths etc. so you don;t end up like the ignoramus you are.

You probably would've benefited from it

I will not accept Muslims as long as they hate gays and Jews, and consider women as inferior beings. Deal with it.

You speak as though we all think the same...

Because I have applied for a PhD in the UK.

Perhaps you shouldn't insult people you are talking to, especially when you know nothing about them.

You have no evidence for that. I admit quite a few are though. But if we get more Muslims into education, we'll get more that can think for themselves and be able to set up moderate ISOCs or challenge the intolerant ones themselves.

And there's a higher chance more Muslims will mix with the wider community if they are given education than not.

Oh yes we do (and if you follow this issue you would be aware)

There are other examples if you need them

But it is not proven that educated Muslims are more unlikely to shy away from a intolerant version of Islam rather it seems the opposite is true

The government has announced a Halal scheme to encourage more Muslims to attend university, specifically, student loans that don't garner interest.

The good news is everyone can apply, so we can all have Halal loans. While the set up is different the amount paid back is said to be the same, as it will be classed as a charitable donation and the loan itself will be drawn from a community fund (that's the public purse to you and me). Hopefully the scheme will be self sufficient within a few generations after enough loans have been repaid in. I mean after enough charitable donations have been made.

Of course, details are still being finalized, the government is currently working on a way to make the 'charitable donation' legally binding...legally binding charitable donations, that must be paid and is deducted from your salary. Isn't that a fun thought, it's just a 'wizard' idea. Kudos Cameron !

Is this a step in the wrong direction if we want to encourage integration, or is that not a thing anymore ?

Definitely a step in the wrong direction. If they cannot accept things the way they are for the rest of us, they should just leave and move to a country which incorporates sharia law.

how narrowly exclusionary. Have you thought of being more open to diversity?

Sadly some school children still think name calling passes for a debate.

I see it a lot on here.

wow you are so naive to think people will not make a judgement of you off of what you are saying. if you are going to present yourself as an idiot you certainly should be treated as such.

best of luck for your application

Lol. What's the difference between halal slaughter and your choice of slaughter when it comes to taste?

You will never understand if you are asking that question. That's the problem with you people

Black cars with tinted window- halal cars
Female/male only hotels/floors/flats - halal apartments.
Female/male only train carriges, bus- halal roads
There already religious schools or, male/female only schools - halal schools
Special safety programmes that doesn't allow kids to go on unislamic websites, porn or music - halal computers.

halal League of Legends?
female champions need to be appropriately dressed
battles need to be fought according to proper shariah
Matchmaking needs to be halal and gender segregated. or women can only be matched on mahram men
Instead of experience points, it would be spiritual points compulsory 10 minute prayer break

Not really, talking about education being a solution to terrorism / non-integration is utter nonsense that the left come out with. Many terrorists have been highly educated and even attending Western universities, they are simply not related.

I am not saying education will prevent terrorism, but it does open up minds and will, I believe, improve integration. I imagine if I didn't go to school and learn science properly, learn about evolution and the physics of the universe, I would have been much more susceptible to non-sense and ********. Doing well at school and uni sharpens ones mental skills, and one needs every single bit of it to overcome any sort of bias or indoctrination.
Not to mention that at university, people get to mix up with all sorts of different people in a mature environment, which will hopefully catalyse the process of their integration

If Muslims want all this stuff why don't they go to Iran or Pakistan or Syria for example
Original post by Omen96
I wouldn't be surprised if they get charity while the rest of us get loans. It's always one thing for them and another for the rest of us.

What happened to coming to a country and living by that country's laws? Oh right, they are Muslim so they have higher preference over the national laws. We are seeing halal become the main food in our schools and public institutions, we are seeing halal slaughter instead of our own choice of slaughter, we are seeing sharia practices arise in Muslim communities, we are seeing Islamic infiltration in our schools, isn't multiculturalism just great!

What a load of non-sense, you must have the comprehensive skills of a naked mole rat. First of all the system they're proposing is open to all, secondly, through the two systems students will end up paying the same amount of money in the end. I can't believe this stupid government trying to fairly accommodate those tax payers and citizens of its nation, what a tossing government.
