For Question 10) c, I got 163/3 or something, but I'm not sure about that. I found where L2 crossed the y-axis, called that S, then found area of triangle PQS, which I subtracted from the bigger triangle OSR. Sorry, I can't explain very well without diagrams or anything. But 163/3 is a weird answer, so I'm probably wrong... :/

That was a tough paper no question. here are some of the answers I got, that my memory can recall. Feel free to share any you remember before the unofficial one is released :smile: I feel like I have done worse than expected

Q1. Typical integration question - should be fine as long as you remember the +C
Q2. 3^6x + 2 : I nearly messed up on that one yikes!!
Q3. 5root2 - 3root2 leaving 2root2
I then got 3root6 - you ended up with 24root6 over 8
Q4.
Q5. Not a fan of this one at all. 5-K and a quadratic - my memory is slacking!!
The one marker was 500 - you got 5 each time - I guessed this one and got it wrong.
The hell of a quadrilateral I got 326/6 which you could simplify to 163/3 units^2. I split it into a triangle and trapezium. The fact that R was 44/3,0 is just cruel.
You got this from the equation 3x - 4y -44 = 0 or again something similar to that. Y = 0 at point R so 3x=44 therefore X = 44/3
The value of K was also awful - I got 41/8 via equating the gradient function to the gradient of the line being 17/2. Again, nasty nasty numbers.
Y= 1/2 when X = -2
17x -2y + 35 = 0 is what I got for tangent equation.

There was quite a challenging discriminate one. You had to make then 2 equations equal one another, and you get values of:
A= 2P, B = -6p-3 and C = 3p-7 or something similar.
When solving it, I got P > 1/2 and P< 9/2

I got John to be 27 as (n-18)(n+25)
Total money on his birthday something like £1050?

The differentiation one was alright for the most part but I've probably messed up on it. The powers were harsh - can't remember it perfectly.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and share answers if you want. It's just a rough guide of stuff, hopefully the official one will be out soon to stop us all worrying! :smile:


Bro, this has literally made my ****ing day. Apart from the area question with that ****ing quadrilateral, I got most of what you got. (SIGH OF RELIEF) I might just be able to put Oxford on the offers list. Thanks so much.

What was question 9b and c asking. The sum when he's 18 and 21?? and how many marks was it again

Can you remember the question for 10. I can't remember the equation of the line that L2 was parallel to.

Since 2013, grade boundaries have been fluctuating between 63/64 for an A. The papers were relatively easy comparing to today's though I think so hopefully ours will be lower?

Think area and maybe a part of last Q wrong how much was area worth if anyone can remember, hopefully i get maybe 68/69

There are a few here which I'm not sure of.

Q11(c): I think you've done something wrong, because I got 1/2.
(d): By extension, I think that this is wrong too. I got 2y - 17x + 35.
This was a murder. I hope the grade boundaries will be lowered.... (so much harder than previous years)

I always thought that they did 80% for an A. Is that not true?
What were the answers to 6?

Was it 5-4k for a1, as well as 5-5k+4k^2 for a3.

Then was part b the one where you had to find the sum of the first three terms?

I got 4k^2-9k+17

Then the last one was 500?

I have a feeling I'm missing something here.

The area I think was as a decimal 54.3 and the last answer the was 2y -17x -(53 or 54 can't remember)

I think 8b was meant to be p>1/2, p<9/2, as they asked 'set of values' instead of 'set values'

Wasn't K = 21/2 as u had to sub -2 into the dy/dx and equate it to 17/2
I actually thought this paper wasn't bad, it was the horrible fractions (44/3, 41/8 etc) that threw everyone off. Apart from that the questions were predictable enough for me. Spent a lot of time redoing those questions to make sure that they were really fractions though lol
