Was wondering if anyone had any predictions regarding what is likely to come up on the 2016 Sociology papers - both Studying Society; Education; Families and Crime and Deviance; Mass Media; Social Inequalities.

Who else thought that exam was "nice" (dont wanna say easy in case i failed). It definitely compensates for last years incredulously hard paper 2

I agree, I found that I could answer everything and that the questions were quite nice :smile:

I put about how certain individuals are dependent on benefits because they share norms and values of being lazy and linked it to charles murrays idea of the underclass and how they are seen as lazy and lack motivation as they are culturally deprived so lack the norms and values shared by people who have had adequate socialisation.......

That makes sense, I talked about culture of poverty cycle of deprivation and the welfare state? That was the one question I was least confident on, hope the rest was okay though :redface:

Welfare state is correct if you said they were dependent on it :smile:

What did you put for how police powers have increased in the last 30 years?
how did unit 2 go for everyone? i preferred it to unit 1 as our teacher barely taught us the studying society section so that was a complete fail. i found mass media the easiest section

What did you guys put for describing one way police/gov have tried to reduce youth crime/deviance? I don't remember the exact question but I wrote about ASBOs and such :h:

Also did anybody do the first 12 marker in social inequality? The one about government policies in the last 30 years to reduce child poverty. If so, I wrote about the culture and cycle of deprivation and educational reforms etc.. couldn't really think of any government policies :/

all in all I think that the test was pretttttty decent :tongue:

I found that question really hard but I put down ASBOs too so hopefully that's right! I did the other 12 marker for Inequality though, sorry! :smile:

I spoke about the government funding youth clubs and how if the youngsters are busy at youth clubs they won't be on the street committing crime. Also, they learn more sufficient norms and values of stewardship in the youth clubs. Lastly, youth clubs can teach them job skills such as interview and CV so they can get better jobs thus decreasing their chances of committing crime.

Is this fine?

It definitely makes sense so I'd hope that you'd get the marks for it! I'd never been taught that so I didn't think of it, but it sounds like a good answer :smile:

I wrote about how ASBOs deter others but the problem is that some young people will wear it as a status of honour. But I think it'll be fineeeeeee because the mark schemes are really super vague on these things so as long as it applies, we're ok lmao

I put this too, minus the extra cv info though etc.
