what does it mean by changing ratios from 1:n

But what I think you are looking for is if there is a ratio of 6:9 and you want it in a ratio of 1:n then you want the left side to be a one, so what do you need to divide 6 by to get one? well 6/6=1 therefore devide the other side by 6. So 9/6=1.5 so the ratio is 1:1.5
