what is the liklihood of an under 25 yr old surviving cervical cancer if caught early?
Very high. Have you had a smear test? Also, it's insane that they don't cervical smear til 25 especially if you were too old for the vaccination. As it's an sti when you get bloods etc. To check for hiv and syphillis they should also do a smear test imo.

nope as they said im too young! (23) im STI clear so thats all good, being sent for a biopsy
Suspected is not actual. hard to stop your mind wandering, except its been found early and you have age on your side. I prefer to find out about things as that can take fear away, but dont make youself paranoid. Fingers crossed.
So hang on. They're sending you for a biopsy before cervical smearing you ?
They may have decided to skip the smear (which is just like a swab) and instead go straight to take a look at the cervix with a microscope to see if there are any changes and take a biopsy.

the word is quite scary in itself but as you say, i have age and catching 'it' early on my side dont help that im a chronic worrier lol

And with every cell of my body, I hope you are safe, and the results negative.

Whatever the answer is, remember that statistics are after all just about likelihood. My mother had ovarian cancer stage 3iii. Statistics said she'd live 2 years max, despite that she lived for 8 years. So yea, just be careful with what you read.

That makes sense I didn't realise this was an option.

yup
hey! does it hurt or bleed much? i think it is early as i acted quite quickly upon seeing symptom/s *huggy emoticon thingy*
I see so it's just skipping the smear as Puddles says above.
Well importantly see it like a routine smear because it's still the first level of investigation into this. So don't worry at all. Do you know what the biopsy will involve- like have they given you a patient information leaflet ?
And seriously the chances of developing late stage cancer purely with infection of the Human Papilloma Virus are very very slim. Catching it early is very important and it looks like you will if it is the worst case scenario.

Heya, it doesn't really hurt that much - they will have a speculum which can be a bit uncomfortable if you've not had that before.
I'm not sure if they will do the same for you, but for me they used a numbing gel thing and then put a kind of dye on my cervix which allows them to see any changes. Then they have a look with a microscope (if you're lucky it might have a camera on it, then you get a screen so you can see what they can see ). Then they take a tiny biopsy. It doesn't really hurt - it feels more like period cramps. No baths (showers are okay) and no sex for a few days afterwards so that the cut has plenty of time to heal.
Afterwards they gave me a cup of tea and they'll ask you sit down for a while as it can make you feel a bit faint.
It sounds like you've taken action quickly and they're being thorough, which is really good

8 years is pretty good! someone i know was given months to live and outlived it by years!

not on the biopsy, the leaflet was just about why im being seen in 2 weeks time. and no idea what it entails eek! i think it is early so thats good!

Not a funny topic but I died at the part I've bolded
Also you've had kids and been through labour how are you worried about a speculum but I get it it is weird concept.
