Not really I just wanted someone to make sure that I was correct

Thanks (y)

what do you think the 6 marker will be on this year?

what do you think the 6 marker will be on this year?

Part of me thinks it could be mentioning about the categorizing of particles.... as in describing hadrons and leptons and further classification.

However I think it is going to be something more like using a thermistor to measure resistance.

What do you think ?

i would be feel more confident if it was on particles,

however , i think that it will be on electricity as last year it was on classification of particles

Didn't that come up last year??
Anyone know any good physics podcasts to listen to?

i found this playlist very useful for the electricity section of unit 1

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM7lGCvspoEycdommQdVpClPe1AKom9Cm

here is the particle physics playlist

hope that helps
Im hoping the 6 marker will be particles, but as that came up last year i'm thinking it will be on electricity. I tend to struggle on the 6 markers on electricity, does anyone have tips or some model answers I can look at?
thanks

Hi guys. Got a B last year, so I'll be resitting as well.

I am sure you know some of this anyway but...

I would advise to answer in bullet points ( as I do ) and it helps you to stop repeaating yourself...

Also make sure you know how to do experiments involving resistance.... and think of different 6 markers on different circuits.

By the way I did the EMPA for this and they mentioned a traveling microscope, of which I didn't know about but the questions about it were not to bad. However I do think it would be a good idea to look at the spec and see what you could ask.
Hello everyone,

I thought it would be worth mentioning I am putting up a youtube video which covers all of the spec ( as in going from the spec requirements.... so kind of skim through the key points on what they could ask you )

Enjoy ... and good luck for everyone
https://www.wellswayschool.com/upload/AS_Physics_Notes.pdf These revision notes are all i have used and past papers have been going well so far .

Also anyone have resources other than past papers or something like the solomen papers in maths.

Guys I was doing Jan 2011 past paper and I'm wondering if there's a mistake here

For IV) when they convert from MeV to Joules they times it by 1.6x10^-13 but not 1.6x10^-19 ?

That's because the value is in MeV (notice the M), which is x10^6 (Million). To go from eV to Joules you multiply it by 1.6x10^-19, but to go from MeV to Joules you must factor in the million multiplication and take it away giving you 1.6x10^-13 instead.

Could you just go over some key things I need to say for the Circuit 6 markers, im fine on oscilloscopes and anything on the particles.

If you look closely from line one to line two, it went from 1.63x10^-13 to line two 1.63x10^-3, and that's when they take account into the factor of 10^6 of MeV

Lol ok i just realised it was a misprint, in line two they used 10^-3 but in line three they used 10^-13 again

Oh you are correct. That is indeed a mistake. They must have mistyped it.

Though if you are going from eV to Joules it's 1.63x10^-19 and going from MeV to Joules is 1.63x10^-13.

please let us know when you have uploaded the video going though the specification points.

Thanks for your help
