Yeah, ran out of time to do the stopping distance bit, only calculated thinking distance. Lost 4 marks due to time in total, but I got the same answers as most on here... grade boundaries are going to kill

Thanks but Micrometer would be used for thickness rather than height ?

yeah, to multiply by width for area right?
Original post by sqr00t
very last question, you cannot arrive at the conclusion that it doubles, though you could say that the cables would extend.

Sorry Yh lmao, typing mistake. I'm sure i put "increases" in the exam

Yeah, exactly.
Anyone want to work on a google docs to create an unofficial mark scheme??
The extension decreases. Force increases so stress increases so YM increases so strain decreases so extension decreases. Was this right?

Yh idk from the way the diagram was, the height was the same as thickness?
Basically one dimension * the other.
Hopefully ms will allow both
for the Young's modulus questions. The part where they asked if the guy was wrong for using the breaking point to calculate Young's mod. He was wrong because you have to do it within the linear part right?

For the crane question with 4 wires? I think it increased

Quite easy.

Some of the stuff I got that I can remember: could be incorrect

1.)Blood accelerates at 0.149
2.) Drag affected by speed and temperature and Drag was 545N
3.) Cars jumped over was 23.3333 so 23
4.) forces X and Y were equal but Not opposite so not a couple.
When the cyclist leans forward, perpendicular distances increased, moment is same so force on X decreases.
5.) stopping distance was 90m
6.) -same force caused half the extension so in parallel the value of k is twice. k=f/x
-Load masses till strip fractures, force = number of masses * 0.1 * 9.81. Measure height with micrometer. CS Area = height * width. Stress = Force/area
7.) extension was 23.3mm
Resultant force upwards means tension increased so due to x = F/k where Force constant is same the extension increases.

Thought it was much easier than last year.
Maybe 46 for A
51 for 90%
And 56 for 100%. Idk

I needed to claw back ums because I got a low b last year on this

Q1: v/t graph. Increasing acceleration up to t=2, constant deceleration
All I can remember xD

If you think about a spring with a weight on the end, If you pull the spring up suddenly, the spring extends and then springs upwards. key word suddenly. So the extension increases
What did you guys draw for the Force time graph on the drag question?

It was good paper but somehow I run out of time :frown: So I lost easy marks

I did exactly the same :frown: I got 93 mm because I stupidly multiplied all the other values by 4 and not divided the weight by 4. To be honest I wasn't sure what to do for that question so I am hoping I get 2 marks. 1 for converting m to mm and 1 for rearranging the equation??

hopefully you should only use one mark for not dividing the extension

I agree with most of this, although factors affecting drag force would be area of parachutist and weight surely?

Parabolic decreasing graph that reached zero at 10s

I do

That sounds like a good answer to me

so you're saying if you sat on a air-filled seats, it would be no different to sitting on bricks?
