Who are more oppressed in modern western society? Men or women?

I think it's quite telling that one of your examples of women having started wars is a mythological figure. Besides which, you apparently bizarrely regard her kidnapping causing a war as somehow making the war her fault?

I hear Medusa was rather evil. She turned men into stone.

Conclusive proof that men are the oppressed.

Guess who made up most of the slaves in history *hint hint* It's men.

Guess who made up most of the slave owners, as women legally were unable to own property at the time?
*hint hint* It's men!

Oh wow, do you even realise what you have just said?

You have literally just said that slaves had it much better than privileged slave owners wives. Do you even hear yourself?

I said that it has nothing to do with women oppressing men or gender inequality which is what this discussion is all about here.

No you didn't. Stop using argument by ignorance. You just tried to belittle the plight of slaves.

Women were used as slaves too. The slaves that still exist today in modern society (sex slaves) are predominantly women. By not mentioning them and denying their existence you're patronizing them. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Listen. Your argument is too fallacial to be taken seriously. The fact you seem to have resorted to ad hominen simply proves my point. Have fun.

My argument is too fallacial to be taken seriously and yet you fail to debunk it. Amazing.

Yeah, faulty reasoning, for saying what exactly? That women were used as slaves too? That most modern slaves are women? These aren't opinions, these are historical and statistical facts.

And faulty reasoning takes a number of forms. It doesn't distract from the fact you tried to down play the slave trade.

Modern slavery is paying tax to the state by force

Oh yes, because free healthcare and good education systems (like they have in countries with high taxes, like Finland) are such awful things.

You're absolutely unreasonable. The slave trade has nothing to do with gender inequality. Women were used as slaves as well.

Well, I live in Norway and it is demoralising as a worker to pay for something that I am forced to pay for and not even by choice

The funny thing is, you actually want slavery through taxation

Stop using appeal to ignorance. It serves no use
Why is there no option for the 100+ Tumblrgenders on this Poll? I happen to believe that Quasi-amoebagendered-Trans-dolphins suffer the most amount of oppression nowadays, finding a suitible body of water to hop through hoops in while I do office work is a serious issue in modern society.

Bigots ITT tbh...

You need to take into account race, class, sexuality and other factors as well. You can not describe every single facet of human iterations and power structures over only a gender divide.

A millionaire actress who gets paid less than her male counterpart part is not as oppressed as a wage slave white working class man.

This.
I used to think of myself as a feminist, then it took on a radical stance that I no longer agreed with so I said I was HeForShe. Now I think the whole concept is redundant; how can we strive for equality across genders when we don't even have equality within one gender? It all falls apart because there's no one 'reference peak' (for the chemists hehe ) to compare equality, no one level that ALL feminists aspire to achieve.

*waits for hardcore feminists to attack*

Boohoo. Cry more about it. There's a reason Norway and Scandinavian countries are doing so amazingly well. It's because of socialism.
