On the last ques - about finding lowest value of 5+3costheta would i get follow through marks if i got the least value wrong?
Original post by yelash
You're answers to 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9B) seem familiar but not 9 or 4 :/
Think I got a=-28 for 4)b and d=34
I though 9)a) was 3^(n/12m) (possibly with m and n the other way round)

I distinctly remember trying to work out A and D and they came out to a=28 and d=-2
And i definitely got 3^(m/2+6n)
How did people do q6bii (the 2nd transformation question)? The one with root(x^2+9).. could someone explain it to me?

I think it was -6n, because it's a division, right??

thats right

the question gave us a factorised quadratic so in first (1-tanx) it was one solution and the other one you had to sub in tanx=-5/4 from previous question and equal it to zero therefore 2 solutions from each so 4 in total

Smh so dumb... How many marks would I have lost for only getting -5/4?

Lol I don't know whether it should be 6n or -6n
Somehow I got 4096 for the binomial expansion, think I must have forgot to put in the minuses or something!! D:

Dam I think I divided the powers :/// stupid me. How many marks was that?

4 marks I guess
I got 3^m/2-6n too

Don't mean to worry you, but that wasn't the last question D:

but yeah, if you solved to 5+3costheta, then you'll get at least half the marks
Original post by Poppy1098
I think it should be m/2 -6n as when you divide you take away powers?

Ye I edited my post, I agree

well depending how many marks were the solutions worth which could be 1 for 2 solutions or 2 for 2 solutions so i think you will loose 1 mark for sure but it can be 2 as well if the solutions were worth 1 mark each
I think I lost about 6 marks if I got everything else right so 69/75, how many UMS (approximately) would that be?
Updated - Unofficial Mark Scheme.

Made a few errors so here it is:

1. b) a=-2
2. b) x=-0.861
c) reflection in y-axis
3. a) 3x^-1/2 - 1
b) y=6
c) y + 2x = 13
d) k = 5.5
4. b) d = -2, a = 28
c) Sum to 21 - sum to 3. Can't remember exact.
5. b) area = 19.9
c) perimeter = 13.8 (something like that)
6. a) 65.6
b) i) translation (0,5)
ii) stretch in X-direction 1/3 sf
7. b) -1648
8. b) can't remember! Tan(X) = 1 and tan(X) =-5/4
c) lowest = 2, when theta = pi
9. a) c^(m/2 -6n)
b) X = 5/2

should be -6n because powers were dividing
Original post by kiiten
No, i got that too

Phew, I am relieved!

Whole question was 3 marks so I probably lost 2, what did you get for the solutions? Did you get 2 or 4 solutions?

I'm pretty sure a was 28 and d was -2

I got 4. i think they were 45,(180-45), and some decimals from the other pair.
