Did anyone else put 22 degrees, think i messed it up

I got this too and then I added it to 100oC as it said final temperature! I don't know what I did :colondollar:

Surely if you decrease volume, there is less surface area, so there is a slower rate of evaporation.

decreasing volume has no affect on surface area. The conatiner shape stays the same

I still don't get the increasing VOLUME question and how it affects the rate of evaporation. Faster or slower?

Drive vadgama
Less volume means it's easier for liquid to evaporate as less energy is needed to heat the liquid as a whole

no the change in temp was 20-13= 7, this occured over a period of 100 seconds
7/100=0.07

Would I get any marks for reading the graphs as 6.8 rather than 7?

I misread question and added it to make 122
Prob get 2/3 marks...we messed up,last step

You might get method mark or 'inclusive marks eg range' but I am pretty sure you will get 1
what does anyone think the grade boundaries will be?
why is that calculation thing 0.07 and not 7...
for the question about the gas flame and why it was inefficient, did anyone else but that some energy was lost by the waste product of light? Or is that completely wrong

would i get a mark for 7 tho

It decreased by 7 degrees in 100 seconds and asked you what the rate of temperature decrease was per second so you had to divide 7 by 100 (0.07)

yes

i got the same answer but u know the unit was in W, however the time was in hours.. so i guess we had to convert it.. but it was just a 2 marker so idkk

Same. Totally forgot about the conversion! Blanked on joules etc!

then 0.07 degrees/s

Did anyone else get 0.0625 for this?
(20-13.75)/100
I got all the calculations ones wrong 😔
did people generally find this paper easier than last year's?

Oh ok thanks - better than nothing I guess:smile:

Erm I think you would get 1 mark out of two
Check my latest thread for a full, fairly accurate mark scheme.

I said this saucepan less surface area than frying pan so smaller rate of heat transfer also some of the energy produced by gas flame is transfered to the surroundings
