Yeah all i wrote about was osmosis like the acid question about the urea i wrote something like the proteins in the membrane denature so no transport and for the salty thing i wrote the salty water is the one that had more mitochondria in the cell cs it needed atp

Should I be worried that I wrote nothing about osmosis apart from the question about the cell wall? And i got different answers on most of those questions :L

Probably not. we are all f'd anyway. If you didnt say anything about osmosis, then what did you write?

These are my shortened answers for them:
1. why do fish need to pee?
*Bc they live in a habitat with a higher water potential
*water moves in down bla bla via osmosis
*into blood plasma
*red blood cells burst - haemolysis
*peeing lowers water potential of water around the fish
*reducing the effect

2. why is tissue X need for the other fish
*Cuboidal cells
*transport ions by secretion and absoprtion
*reduces osmotic effects

3.which cell is from fresh water etc
*cell a
*more mitochondira
*producte energy in form on ATP
*needed to reproduce

4. fish dying from acid rain
*acid lowers water potential of habitat
*lower than blood plasma potential
*water move out of cell etc. viaa osmosis
*cells shrink

ANY SIMILAR ANSWERS??

okay that's about 12 marks lost

I did the new spec and the essay was also on cell division..

No haha dont worry. Im not even sure if those are right. Thats WAY too many osmosis related answers. Cant be right

Also I essentially put these answers for the sake of filling up the space:

1. Dilute pee, because concentrated pee would increase the ion concentration outside so it would enter fish again through gills, urea is toxic etc

2. Have no clue, just waffled about ions and diffusion or something.

3. Cell A, because more active transport of ions needed and more mitochondria, larger surface area etc

4. Increased acidity, increased hydrogen ions neutralise charges on hydrophilic channel proteins so polar ions and molecules can't be taken up.

1st question i got similar to you, 2nd similar but I rambled on about active transport which is likely wrong, 3rd I said something about active transport but yours makes more sense, 4th similar sort of thing too, then i made up some crap about ions haha. Ah well lets hope grade boundaries are something under 20 for an A

Enzyme inhibitors
Yep, I did a different paper. Cheers

Did you get the question about centrifuging with red blood cells and sodium chloride?

I'm still not sure of what topic it was supposed to be on, i assumed cell membranes and diffusion due to the first part of the question. Was close to just writing about counter current flow or something like that - our teachers asked if we'd sat BY2 by mistake xD

I don't think the new spec had an essay on cell division? I sat the legacy by1 paper (old spec) and that had cell division as an essay. I believe the new spec had enzymes as an essay?

Didyou guys do a resit or something because my Biology wjec paper didnt have any question of fish. My essay question was on cell division. Did you guys have this too?

yep I did the same one as you

What other questions did you have in the paper?

For 4. I wrote that the acid denatures the proteins so there is no facilitated diffusion or active transport

There was a question on properties of water and biological significance? Did you have the same one?

Yeah that makes sense actually, that's the line i think i was trying to go down because of how pH affects enzymes
Yh we did eduqas. Let's make a new thread for it.
Anyone able to try and weigh in on expected grade boundaries?
