2) How many marks do you reckon I'll lose for forgetting to sub my value for 'x' back into the original equation to find the value for 'p? 1 or 2?

And damn...I'm pretty sure you only lost 1 mark on the June 2014 (R) paper which had had an almost identical optimisation problem (which was also 5 marks IIRC). Not sure though, I'll double check.

probably not due to the outrage. there is a possibility i wont do it due to my workload at that current time with exams, d1 being d1 its not like c4 where i can just bang it out in 30 mins, d1 takes the full 1hr30 mins no matter hw good you are.

It looks like you only lose 1 mark. I think it depends on how many marks the question is. If, as in this case, the question is 5 marks, you lose one mark and if the question is 6 marks, you lose 2.
