How the hell did I get 16% for percentage yield... Fml

i got a big number like 1065000 too but my Percentage yield was something like 23% since i thought you couldn't use moles to calculate H2S04's mass since it was aqueous?


Everyone seems to be getting different answers for the yield one 😭

I thought the paper was OK, some new types of questions and I found myself quite pressed for time in comparison to other past papers.
I identified sulfur twice for periodicity and silicon for the last one.
Last page calculations I got 0.155m^3, 1070000g, 49.3%
Mass = moles*Mr
Mass = 3750*284
= 1,065,000g

Percentage yield= 49.3%

V=(nRT)/P
= (1.77*8.31*(500+273))101,000
=0.133m^3

I got 26.4 or something for % yield :/
You guys for the volume used v = nrt/p
It was 2:1 ratio so x2 then temp was 773K and pressure 101 000
Where did I go wrong?

What did everyobe write for the similarities and differences question. I put that the isoptopes abundance is the same as a similarity but 2+ions are produced as a difference. No idea if thats right :frown:

Chromatography for the seperation question but a lot of people said fractional distillation.

Cu3H2C2O8

0.451g
1065000 for the mass
49.3% (this is deffo right)
And first method because 4 miles of phosphoric acid is produced instead of 2 and also, no second product is produced in the first method. However, you can also say second method because it's a one step reaction.
What did you guys put for the one about methanol and methanoil
It was to do with Hydrogen bonding ok sure

I said put both in water since methanol would dissolve as it forms H bonds with water whereas the other one (Methanethiol) or something would be insoluble?

Do you mean 0.451m3 or grams

the alcohol was soluble in water (due to H bonding) so, add water and filter?

Shouldn't u divide that answer by 6? Coz there are 5 oxygen moles (g). There is also 1 gaseous moles of phosphoric acid. 1+5 gives 6. 0.133 divided by 6 and then multiplied by 1 gives the final answer
