My dates are something like 24 July to 14 August and I'm from London, Greenwich more exactly.
None of my friends are going so I'm gonna be all by myself *cries inside*. Do you think it's less fun for those who don't go with their friends and have to meet new ones?

They try to split people up from the same school, so that you have to make new friends anyway. It shouldn't be any major issue that none of your friends are going, I don't think any of mine are either.

I'm going this year too!
Dates: 24th July - 7th August
Area: Bristol
I didn't choose any options? I know what we choose them for, but not when?? When did either of you guys choose?
P.s I missed the information evening if that was when we had to choose. I was originally going but, I couldn't go due to last minute situations.

We were discussing this in the beginning of the thread - apparently some providers let you choose, some don't. The options are for what you're going to doing in Part 2 of the programme (eg Media, Sport, etc).

But still, go in with an open mindset, since they arrange teams so that the numbers are more or less equal. So there's a very likely chance (if you did choose any options) that you wouldn't get your first choice, and a smaller chance that you may be doing something you didn't even opt for.

You should receive a booklet with some information about that in them.

Part of the application is choosing the actual skills, like drama, sport, etc. For example, in order, I chose:

1 - Media
2 - Art (it was on the drop down menu, and the fact that I'm currently doing an Art GCSE might help me)
3 - Photography

That's it. You don't choose groups, locations, or anything of the sort. After that it's just filling out the remainder of the application.

Hey, I'm doing the same dates as you! I'm also doing art and photography, but for my third I chose enterprise.

I'm really looking forward to it! :h::h:

I would say it's probably better that you won't know anyone because then you'll be less inclined to just stick with them and make new friends instead. I'm also going on my own, and that's one of the things I'm looking forward to about it! :h::h:

Hey guys, I really want to do the challenge but I have to change my dates and I will be missing the last 2 days. Apparently these are the best days. Do you think its still worth doing it?

Hey, I might be doing the same dates! I need to change my dates though and I'm not sure if I should do it because I'll miss the last two days which are apparently the best ones :frown:

Options for Part 2 (in descending order): Media, Art, Photography

What is this? I haven't seen anything about any type of options for part 2, thought it was just a residential in university halls or something like that.
Hi guys!
I feel like my ncs experience is going to be completely ruined because I have found out two girls from my school who I REALLY don't like have the same dates as me! Is there a high probability I will have to group up and share rooms with them? Can I request not to? I really want to pretend I don't know them since I won't be seeing them anymore after secondary school. How many people per group? Also, I do have a few friends who start like a day or two earlier or later than me, does that mean they will be in different groups?

Sure - as a matter of fact, NCS actually encourage people from the same schools to share different rooms entirely in order for other, newer people to properly socialise.
