How much value does a validated college degree have?

There will always be the college you attended in small print but does this really make a difference to the employer? Will these degrees still hold the same value as the main Universities?

It depends on the degree, the accrediting university, the teaching university and the employer...

That's a lot of variables that you're asking people to give an opinion on.

Are you considering a specific course that you're concerned about?

Yeah, it's a marketing degree at croydon university (UCC) and accrediting university is Sussex.

The closest thing I can find is a business degree with a marketing minor. If that's the course you're looking at and your interest is in a marketing career then it doesn't look like a great fit. It seems like a decent degree but the content is very business and accounting focused (with accounting accreditation ).

If you want a marketing career then the recognised body is CIM. They acceedit a whole bunch of degrees and I would recommend looking into those options if they're a possibility for you: http://www.cim.co.uk/files/graduate_gateway_university_course_listing_april_2016_version_18.pdf

If geography or other commitments mean the UCC course is your only real option then you wouldn't be wasting your money but it might take longer to get into the career you're after (and you might have to take CIM quals post degree to progress) and you might find the content of the course less interesting. If you're happy to work on the accounting modules and to find good placements in your holidays you should be fine.

From the modules of the course, only year 1 is business orientated whilst the other years are all marketing. I think its business minor and marketing major.

Yeah, location is the issue for me. So I'm fine having this over the CIM. Since Sussex was ranked #6 for marketing, I was just wondering if the value of the degree was the same/ similar. If it was worthless, I would rather apply for a uni instead of going to a higher education college
