Not if he's a 'really pious' imam it isn't.

Depends what you're categorising as friendship. Why you criticising him anyway?

So he's strictly religious and pious yet you became close friends? Seems legit.

Under Islam, that's not the meaning of 'religious'.

Not every Muslim is a Salafi like you.

In all sects and subsects of Islam it isn't permissible, so it has nothing to do with being Salafi lol. Learn Islam rather than buzz words.

But not everybody is religious.

That isn't really relevant - the whole point is that she considers him to be pious.

Ok. Now that you have already developed feelings for him if you are really serious, then the best thing is to actually to talk about marriage and let your parents know. Then see from there what the imam says etc. If it does not work out then Islamically you should just let go and not get dawah from a man.

the definition of pious is along the lines of strictly religious. so i think what hanwar is saying is that the boy isn't exactly pious if hes became close friends with a girl, which is basically haram

Sahih Muslim - The Book of Jihad and Expedition - كتاب الجهاد والسير
Book 19, Hadith 4309

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: On the Day of Judgment there will be a flag fixed behind the buttocks of every person guilty of the breach of faith.

HAnwar is right though. He should have known better as he was pious and an imam.
