Hi guys, I hope you don't mind my input.
I have some predictions of what will come up as the following topics haven't come up since the June 2011 paper. A new specification is being introduced next year, so WJEC should clear these topic areas up.

Topic 4- Data Error Types- Transcription, Transposition and Data Processing errors
Topic 5- Limitations of Data Processing Systems
Topic 8- LAN's and WAN's
Topic 9- HCI requirements
Topic 10- Health and Safety
Topic 11- Relational Databases and Flat-file systems

We don't have to know anything on lan and WANs though do we?

Should do.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using GUI and menu driven HCIs
Guys I haven't revised once, I got a C last year but I was trying to get an A. No chance now.

Plus, What time is the exam? :frown:

I'm pretty sure there is one more year of this spec, as when I was talking to my teacher about it that is what she said. Could be wrong though, but again, these are such specific areas so they're unlikely to come up?

Can someone please mark this for me this is for education the 10 marker
The three different computer based methods of registration I have chosen are Bromcom, Swipe cards and Biometric
I chose Bromcom because in some schools teachers have a specialised device with a wireless to an admin server. Teachers have to fill in attendance form at the beginning of every lesson. Afterwards, this is then wirelessed up to the office. The advantages of this computer based method is that it saves teaching time so teachers can spend more time teaching the children and the school gets an improved attendance. However, the disadvantage is that wireless coverage in all rooms may not be available.
the second method I chose was swipe cards each pupil has their own swipe card which they need to swipe through a computer at the beginning of registration and every lesson. This data is sent up to the office either by wireless or file transfer. An advantage of this method is that it is easier to spot absence patterns so you can tell which students have been missing lessons. However , a disadvantage is that there could be initial cost of purchasing equipment which would be expensive.

I don't have time to put the third but u can tell if I will get good marks or not please mark this

I only remember one or two for each as that's all that is needed

GUI: Advantage - Intuitive, common sense will prevail, user can navigation the HCI with little to no prior instruction due to the simplicity of use. (another one is) No need to remember commands, but tbh i'd lump that in with the above.

Disadvantage: A large amount of system overheads such as CPU power and RAM/GPU are needed to render the higher resolution and colours

Menu Driven: Advantage: A simple interface which is very easy to use
Disadvantage: Only really appropriate where there will be few menu options for the user to choose. Having too many options would lead to decreased efficiencies during use.
Good luck to everyone for tomorrow! I'm sure you'll all be fine, remember to get a good nights sleep! Let us know how you all get on tomorrow and how you find it! All the best.

Any (web authoring, DTP, Presentation) has a chance except Database as it appeared last year. Unless WJEC starts being a sneaky a*** and include database again but in a different context like an Estate Agent, DVD hire etc.
