They are different questions.
But you know the work sheet question I got something else I got -30 and how did they get positive 2 for the first one.

When you square a negative number, it'll always be positive. I think you did (42)=16-(4^2) = -16 when it is in fact 42=16-4^2 = 16
Sketch the two graphs with a sensible scale. Solving by sketch is a terrible method!

Almost! Here, you've got to remember that two negatives make a positive, so the answers for -4 and -2 should be different.
