please someone help I am struggling to get head around the "log rules"

It says log x-log y = log(x/y)

then in the equation 2^x=10
why x= (log 10 / log 2) NOT SAME AS x= Log 8???

Log10 MINUS log2 would be equal to log5 as 5 is 10 divided by 2.

But log10 DIVIDED by log2 is not equal to log8 or log5.

The formula says that logx - logy = log(x/y) but that does NOT mean that logx/logy is log(x-y). It doesnt work that way around :smile:

Dont get divergence and convergence. Did jan 13 paper yesterday and said the sequence which approaches 0 is converge.
While approaching infinity is diverge. I thought this was other way around?

In a paper i did earlier, june 11, it had a sequence tend to 0, but it said it was diverging?

Wouldn't you just use pythagoras to find the adjacent value, what answer does it give in the mark scheme?

Can someone explain part ii?
Ive got two angles: 7/6pi and 11/6pi, but dont get what other mark is for? It mentions plus and minus pi/6.

But i only got minus pi/6. Pretty confused

Hey guys, I really need help with this question:

"Show that N satisfies the inequality

N > (log₁₀²⁰⁰⁰⁰⁷- log₁₀⁷) / (log₁₀²)

Hence find the least possible value of N"

This is on the June 2010 paper, Q.12 (ii) (B.)

Please help ASAP! I don't know how to do this, or even the method of how I would go about other questions like this!

I just did this question. For me, to work out 7/6pi I did 2pi - 11/6pi to work out the distance between the 2 points, and got 1/6pi (which I then added to pi). It could be that but I'm not really sure, just guessing.

June 13, ive got the 2 answers, i just dont get what the first mark is. It says plus/minus pi/6 but i only got minus pi over 6

Part 10 i is -sin(angle) because you are adding 180 to the graph, which makes it negative.)
T2 = Sin(angle) ,,,since your adding 360 the graph does not change.
Draw the sin graph this really helps.

Use pythag to find the y-displacement: a^2 = c^2 - b^2 = (13/2)^2 - 6^2 = 6.25
so a = 2.5

y coordinates of A and B are -1 -2.5 = -3.5 then just use circle equation to find the corresponding x coordinates
