Describe the formation of recombinant DNA?

Depending what board you are on, I think it goes like this:

obtain the desired gene by restriction endonuclease/reverse transcriptase
amplify with in vivo cloning or PCR
get vector: bacterial plasmid
cut with same restriction endonuclease used to cut out gene
sticky ends complementary and so bind
DNA ligase to form phosphodiester bonds by condensation reactions to produce a plasmid with this new gene and thus this is recombinant DNA
