GCSE Maths UNIT 2 AQA + UNOFFICIAL MARK SCHEME 2016

Hello everyone.
Hope the exam went well for you.
I'm 100000% confident the answers I got are correct, hence I'm making this Unofficial Mark scheme.

Q.1) Factorise and solve the equation for x and the answer is 8.

Q.2)There was a Nth term sequence going up by 2n each time.
On the diagram you were give n,2n,_,_
You had to work out the total value of the first 4 terms and The answer was 135.

Q.3)
a)Plotting for Train A
b)Plotting for Train B.
c)80mph was the speed of train B.

Q.4)
Car B was cheaper.

Q.5)
7 blue discs.

Question 6)
Factorise to get: 2x(3x+7)

Q.7)
You had to list all the values that satisfied The Inequality and they were:
-3,-2,-1,0,1

Q.7)
b)Draw a line to represent the Inequality of 2< x >=10
You should have put a solid dot at 10 and clear one at 2.

Q.8)
John and Nick share money in ratio 5:2. They have a difference of £150
Work out how much in total they get.
Answer was £350

Q.9)
a)Find Reciprocal of 0.2 and Answer is 5.
b)What is 8.5^0 and Answer is 1
c)Factorise 27^1/3 x 7^-2
Leave your answer in Fraction form.
Answer is 3/49

10) You had a graph and you had to state all the Inequalities for the shaded region.
They were:
x+y < 7 and x >= 2 y > 1

11) The question had something like this:

x-20 : x + 280 is meant to = 1/4 or something like that.

Basically you had to find a value for x that satisfied that and made it = 1/4.
Answer was 120.

12)a)Forgot

12)b)Forgot

Please remind me of these questions... I know there were a few to do on surds.




15)Simplify an expression and I'm not sure whether you had to leave it at 2x-1/2x+5 or -1/5 (CORRECT ME)

16)You had to find its identity something like that and
a=6
b=9

17)You had some Fractions and you had to turn it into a Quadratic then solve it, The answers were x=7 or x=-4


I've forgotten some of the questions. If you tell me them I shall remember the answers. Have any disagreements or thoughts? Leave a comment below.:biggrin:

That was a solid paper... I've only got 25 so far :frown: (My A grade is out of the window for sure).

The last question was solving a quadratic equation from the algebraic fractions, which I can't remember. I messed this up and made the wrong quadratic.

There was a question where we had to simplify an algebraic fraction (I think it had 2x on both the denominator and numerator).

If I remember anything else, I'll tell you.

There was a number machine question which involved you using Simultaneous equations to solve a and b.

I have the answer but can't remember the question, If anyone can tell me I can add it it.

3a - 5 = b
a + b = 64

Something to do with those. I ****ed up the simultaneous equation!

Hmm something is wrong with that. I think the second part is wrong....:hugs:

I didn't sit the paper (Just passing :tongue: ) but if it wanted you to solve the above for a and b....

a + (3a - 5) = 64
4a - 5 = 64
4a = 69

a = 17.25

b = 46.75

i believe it was
input -> x3 -> -5 -> output

when input is a, output is b
a+b= 64

i think i made a mistake in my previous comment, i meant that if the input is a+b, the output is 64. i might be wrong but this is how i did it in the exam:

3a-5=b

3(a+b)-5=64
3(a+3a-5)-5=64
3a+9a-15-5=64
12a-20=64
12a=84
a=7

input 'a' into 3a-5=b :
7x3-5=b
21-5=b
b=16

That's wrong (I think) though because the original statement said a + b = 64

You said a is 7 and b is 16 but 16 + 7 does not = 64....

2x-1/2x+5 does not equal -1/5 because you can't take 2x out of either top or bottom, it is not a factor.

2x-1/2x+5 is correct

i thought the exam said that when the input is a+b the output is 64

16+7=23
23x3=69
69-5=64

but maybe i misread it lol

Looks like I've forgotten the answer and stuff to the question :frown: Does anyone remember what number it was?
How come barely anyone did this paper? Anyway, was it hard or easy?

I am confident i got this question right but cant remember with accuracy my answer or the question.
I do remember something along the lines of 3(a+b)-5 but only vaguely.
