What did people get for the triangle perimeter question
Original post by 11tan
Yeah you'll definitely get some method marks for a correct substitution

I got question 3 (probablity )wrong but i mentioned that probabilities always add up to 1? Would that be a mark or too basic?
Original post by abbigm1
This is true but a fraction is correct too because when we are given probability questions with tree diagrams they are usually in the form of fractions

It is ok to use a fraction during the process of working out a question (tree diagrams for example) , but the final answer MUST be given as a decimal or percentage!

The last question was 100% 80.4 degrees. You had to re-arrange half absinC to get 18cm2 divided by half x 7 x 8. With the number you get, use inverse sine. This gives you the angle between the 2 lengths. As you have an angle between 2 lengths, you can use cosine rule to find the final length. The length squared = 7^2 + 8^2 - 2 x 7 x 8 x cos (the angle got from before). Square root this answer to give you the final length of the triangle. Once you have all 3 lengths, you can then re-arrange the cosine rule to find the final angle (not given on the formula sheet). Do 7^2 + (length acquired just now)^2 - 8^2 divided by 2 x 7 x (length acquired just now) gives you cos of the angle they asked you to find. Do inverse cos on this number and you get 80.4 which looked very similar to the angle given. Who else did this for the last question?

Yep I did that
Only question i got wrong was question 24 part A and B hopefully i get an A

I got 10 for the stratified sampling?? You can't get 10.85778 people so I rounded down but this is probs not in the markscheme

You're meant to round it up I think
Thanks but where's the marks for each answer 🤔 how would I know how many marks I've missed out if I don't know the full marks for each question?

Wait a sec, x^3 - 5x = 34

3.7^3 - 5(3.7) = 32.153
34 - 32.153 = 1.847
So 3.7 is 1.847 away.

3.8^3 - 5(3.8) = 35.872
35.872 - 34 = 1.872
So 3.8 is 1.872 away.

This shows 3.8 being 0.025 further away than 3.7. 3.7 is closer. These are cubed numbers so even though you could round up from 3.75, the number gap changes as the numbers get bigger, so you count just assume to round up. They only care about 1d.p. numbers, using 3.75 doesnt matter. You have to find which 1d.p. is closer, and its 3.7.

3.7 is too small
3.8 is too large
3.75 is too small (about 3.98)

So 3.75<x<3.8
So to 1dp x=3.8
It's because you worked out the wrong angle, you needed to use that angle to work out another side and then you could work out the angle x

The answer was 80.4. You would get 80.1 if you rounded the answers mid way through the question not only at the end.

Exactly. You shouldnt round during working out answers. Multiple times on past papers, even rounding to 3d.p. can change you're answer significantly, especially when working with sine/cosine rules

Answer was 11.. You round up not down

Hi I'm going to start and unofficial markscheme so add your answers
Reps are not necessary but would be appreciated :smile:

It would be really useful if you could remember the question numbers
1. Order numbers correctly and include a key
b) 9/20=
0.45
2a. 5a*2b*3c =
30abc
b. Factorise fully 3y +6 =
3(y+2)
c. Expand x(x-3)=
x^2-3x
3.
x=9.25
4. Smallest packet was best value for money because it was cheapest per bag of crisps
5. 4 times as many red than green: There were 0.4 blue and 0.15 yellow.
0.4+0.15+4x+x=1
0.55+5x=1
5x=0.45
x=0.09
4x=0.36
Green- 0.09 Red- 0.36
6a. 20.3
b. 68.04kg
c. 2.61m
7. 3.8
8a. 4:3
b. 480 pixels
9.x= 124 degrees
10. 7.92
11.£42.29
12. x=144 degrees
13.
-2 -1 0 1 2
-1 3 1 -1 3
Draw curve
14. 3 Bars
15. No, because 7766.22 was greater than 7500 pounds
16. 128g
b.11g
17. 30.1
18. 10a^5b^4
b. y= 5p^2-x
19.11 males
20. x= 0.29 or x= -2.29
21. 29.25
22. F.d- 1.6, 3.2, 2.4, 1.8, 0.3
23.28.9
24a. -1/3x+4
b. 2x/(x+1)(x-1)
25. 80.4

Can you show how many marks each question was out of?

You still round up with stratified sampling. They were taking a sample of 50. You could take the time to work out the different year groups and genders and using 11 would add up to 50. There would be another group that would have like 8.32.. Something and it would round down to 8 so it would balance out the fact you rounded up for 10.85778. Hope this helps.

F*ck yeah got 80.1 without having a clue on what tf i was doing

pretty sure it was 80.4......
i got 80.4, most of my friends did too
Original post by Katlin Rose
No, you would not get the marks sorry. I remember the table being very specific :/

Which one was on the left and what was the answer?
Original post by Disfuligee
3.7 is too small
3.8 is too large
3.75 is too small (about 3.98)

So 3.75<x<3.8
So to 1dp x=3.8

Ignore 3.75, you're only looking at 1 d.p. The 3.75 thing is misleading, Because 3.8 is still further away than 3.7
Would I still get full marks for rounding down to 68 question 6b?
Does any one know the amount of marks for each question?
I thought I did pretty well in this. It was definitely easier than the Non-Calculator paper and I think I got 70 marks in total in this. I did get a bit stuck on question 22, 24, 25 and 8b but I thought the rest were very easy. A bit of a shame that there weren't any quadratic simultaneous equations though. And I put 3.7 for the trial and improvement question so I'm not sure if I got it right. But all in all, I thought I did well so bring on August 25th (aka Results Day) :smile:
