Listen to this guy/girl. Seriously, I have a wife who is a teacher and at least 6-7 teacher friends. They want booze first and chocolate second. A nice note/card to go with it is also a bonus.
I must be posher and richer than I thought I was because a bottle of wine is standard in my school.

just finishing GCSEs, want to give my favourite English teacher some nice gifts. I would buy her box of nice chocolates, a £50 flower bouquet, a card, I wrote a funny poem for her (She taught us literature). You guys thinks it's a good idea?
