M1 June 2016 Model Answers Edexcel (with paper)

Trickier than usual. Hell lot of simultaneous equations seems to be the trend in some of these recent papers.

q3, q6 and 7a will probably be answered poorly.

My answers using g have been given to 3sf. 2sf of course is also accepted.

(just a heads up, I will be posting answers to C3, C4 and some of the other modules too)

Nope sorry
What do you think the grade boundaries will be on this paper?
I made some silly mistakes, like using 6-d instead off 4-d on the moments question. i think being extremely harsh on myself I got 60/75 more likely I got around 65 imo.

I think they should be under 60 for an A. 65 should be 90 at least. 60 should be a low A

They've already been done by Zacken and several other people. There's a pretty good unofficial mark scheme up somewhere on TSR

God yes! Eek.

Q.3 and Q.7a will definitely have taken students out of their comfort zone. Not so sure about Q.6: seems reasonably OK. The main issue is understanding what "...on the point of tilting..." means for the distribution of forces.

Should definitely be 100UMS

I think I rounded it to 2sf for 2(b) - not sure if that's okay but I see you got 15.5N instead.

I hope so - Edexcel probably going to make it 75 though. :/

15N to 2sf is still correct. Answers involving g should in fact be rounded to 2sf but they also accept 3sf. Full raw well done
