Depending on your husband for money in 2016 is deplorable

Lol who are you to tell a woman how to live her life.

It's quite pathetic how you're putting housewives down and generalising them all, when in fact their job is harder than most jobs.

There are plenty of men who would prefer their wives to be housewives, so if both husband and wife are happy, then I don't see what your problem is.

Hoovering and cooking dinner is not harder than most jobs, it requires next to no skill

I wish society didn't look down on men who want to be house-husbands.
If they have enough money to live comfortably without them working, and have other things in their life that they deem more important then why would they work? Is not doing effectively pointless stuff really all that lazy?

Why do I need to care? Of course if you're banging on about women marrying just for money then that's crappy of them, but I see no reason to be outraged at all housewives in general.

Its people like you who are keeping the patriarchy alive.

Come on dude this thread was already silly enough to start with.

I assume your extensive experience being a househusband tells you that this is all that is required to maintain a home (not to mention looking after children)?

I wouldn't mind having a Man take care of me and to be honest I'd rather stay at home and be a housewife than work and stress myself out

You seem to enjoy the idea of women being housewives
Not that there's anything wrong with that

In 2016 women are able to choose what they want to do; whether it be being a housewife or a lawyer or a scientist. That's the whole point of women's rights movements and stuff. If you want to replace one set of rules with another set of rules, I think you've missed the point? Also I would characterise the housewife-husband relationship as symbiotic rather than parasitic (as you suggest).

I agree.

And as for people who say being a housewife is hard...lol

There are men and women out there who can actually do both, work for a steady household income and take care of the kids and house. And nowadays, with all the advances in technology, household work is barely hard.

Ffs all you need to do is shove some clothes in a box to clean them and dry them, and run a stick around your home for at most half an hour a day to keep it dirt free.

I think housewives are just lazy and I hate how there's a 'homemaker' option on official forms etc. They're bloody unemployed that's what

my dad became a house wife when his wife had cancer, he was also her carer and helped do everything else.
even though generalised housework isnt hard, it makes it hard for him as he is now widdowed and severly disabled :frown:

In this day and age when women's rights have come so far, there's still so many women who are are willing to marry for money, which is quite frankly a disgrace. Women who are housewives also need to take a long hard look at themselves and reassess their lives, as it's basically an admission that they can't be assed to work hard for themselves so they'll marry someone who does it for them. Also Muslim women who say this in 2016 are wrong as well, in the past it's been somewhat dangerous for a woman to work but there's no excuse now not to go to university and get a good job.

Wow, ok so yes I get where you're coming from...but why should housewives have to reassess their lives? I get that someone else is working-but what if that someone else is happy to work to help provide for them? And your basically talking about gold diggers, no?
Yes in the past it has been dangerous....but is that what you think? That housewives don't work because it is "dangerous"?

Edit:
And why is it just Muslim women?? I find that really offending....how you are just discriminating one religion over the other...no offense though Muslim women are not the only women who are or were housewives. There are many Hindu, Sikh etc women who were or still are housewives...why do you just have to mention Muslims only?

I knew a biology degree was good for something.
None of your business what housewives do.

Something else that is also rarely done with specialist skills. I've never been a particle physicist yet I know it require a lot of knowledge and intelligence. The argument that I can't know something without experiencing it is ridiculous. Obviously being a housewife is more than hoovering and cooking but it requires no skill

So only things that require skill are difficult and worth doing?

I suggest you try doing a few 12-14 hour shifts at a menial job, then tell me about how easy it was. Or are you able to talk away that as being easy without doing it either?

Incidentally, bringing up a child may not necessarily require skill or intelligent, but if you don't put them into it, they're probably not going to grow up very well or be especially intelligent themselves.

Well, firstly marrying for money is disgraceful and could be a risk later on to the marriage.

Secondly, being a housewife is not easy, they don't even have hours to undicate when to start and stop. So basically, it is like all day work and that too without getting paid.

On top, if a woman wants to do that and the husband is happy with it and can provide for the family, then I don't see any problem with it.

Being a housewife is also like a blessing to me, as you get to focus on your family more. But please do not say they are lazy or cba.
feminism but still need husbands money right babe?

Yeah essentially this. Women basically make sure the traditions that suit them stay in place (aka man being main breadwinner) and eliminate the traditions that they don't like.
