he was fighting a german-controlled evil empire
Churchill is rightly credited as a founding father of the EU.

In any case, great idea OP. I wonder why nobody else thought of doing an EU poll on here?

He also though that the UK should not be in it to the degree the French and Germans were.

He wanted a United States of Europe, a European Army to stablize the region from war to peace.

But still in it. The Cameron option.

He was an intergovernmentalist rather than federalist.

Yes, get rid of this Eurozone and make a United States of Europe.. with state rights etc like America... its going to happen one way or another, if we leave future generations will just vote in its pathetic to even consider leaving when we'll just be back at square one in like 100 years when it probably would be a superstate.

Not exactly a fan of wiping over the sovereign, independent and culturally distinct nations of Europe that have been forged in thousands of years of war just so you personally can hold contempt for democracy.

We will one way or another, join and lose sovereign why hold back progress? Stay in EU and watch it happen... war was over dominance and thats now over. Forget past and think whats best for future when European countries will drop ranks when Asia rises.

are you insane? :| what are the specific benefits to the UK of an EU super state?! what are the benefits to british democracy?!
if this is all about foreign policy/international relations (continental) powers then are you really telling me you want to be slightly more ready for more global wars (that aren't going to happen, realistically) in exchange for a total loss of UK democracy? why?! why are these your priorities?

If Britain goes into a United States of Europe, they could promote the change of democracy across the nation as it already does... compete with China, India and USA, European Union doesn't make us worse off, it helps promote UK as the #1 soft power.
Whats so special about a country's lands? Nothing. History is history, quit talking about it and talk about future.

Aside from the dry scientific fact that there is difference between countries' lands, how are you such a spiritual desert that you have absolutely no understanding of statehood?

how?? we're letting in many undemocratic countries into the EU currently (not just turkey, long term) AND the EU erodes our own democracy! how is that a promotion of democracy?!

we already do that though! we'd be able to compete further from the outside without slapping tariffs all over the world's markets!

because it's the communal base and foundation of our democratic governance? the EU is not a community that we identify with; we don't think of "we" when we think of the EU, we think of "us" and "them". you can't have a functioning democracy (not like the EU ever claimed to be such a thing) with very remote links between bases
