Potential difference over a component = work done?

Hi everyone, does the potential difference over a component equal the work done across that component by the power supply? (excluding energy lost via heating)

Thanks!
it equals work done divided by charge p.d= workdone/charge

Oh great, thanks!

That makes them directly proportional then. How do you calculate charge?
