You dont need H+ Ions you puppet you arent making a hydroxy nitrile

I know 😭😭😭😭
He problem with this paper was that We had no time to go back and check answers because of the volume of 1 markers that took ages to figure out. 😭😭😭 Guess I am doing agriculture. 🌷🍁🎍🌿🌴🌳
can you test for acyl chlorides with alcohol?
Was the actetate mechanism nucleophilic addition. PLEASE ANSWER
hydrogen bonding H2N ------ HN2CH2COOH etc.
Original post by RME11
It would be 2-chloroethanoylchloride.

Don't need the 2.

So I resat this paper (3rd year of A-Levels) and it's safe to say it's been a pointless 3 years considering I won't even get into university now :frown:

Yep White Ppt of Agcl

they both had chlorine in them and so would both show a precipitate
Grade boundary predictions/any sign of an unofficial mark scheme yet? I know it's early doors but I'm freaking tf out lmao

acetol nucleophilic addition 100% correct

Edit: oops, misread your comment.

what are you talking about you dont need to form HCN you just need to form the nitrile which is done by KCN as the nitrile group subbed the Br there is no need for H+ Ions unless the compound was an aldehyde or ketone and you wanted a hydroxy group.

But that wasn't the question, so all that was needed was ethanol to catalyse

it told you in the question that it meant stitch

Well it clearly wasn't clear enough since other people didn't understand the word SUTURE. Anyways, if they needed to use the word stich to clarily then why use any other word to throw people off?

For the first two equations did you guys use an equilibrium sign?!?!?!?!?!?!!??

Anyone????
I agree it was unfair that our lack of medical knowledge in a chemistry exam will make us do worse. I spoke to someone who does biology after (who's ultra intelligent) and he said that the reason why one of the horrible things (can't remember their name) was because one of them had a fishy smell, I was just like how the **** was I supposed to know that!

I think I might need those stitches though after that excuse of an exam.

the difficulty of that past paper above matches that of today's paper (in my opinion at least).

for this paper you needed:
C - 56
B - 65
A - 74
A*- 83

I think the grade boundaries will match up too

I hope anyway.....

Anyone get 1.2 for the salt/acid question??? Cant remember exactly what the question was asking but it was the last question on the 2nd page
The order were 1 and 2. D increased by 1.5 and E increased by 1.5. However, E was second order, therefore we get the 3.375 times increase in rate 1.5 x 1.5^2.
